Review - French La pensee religieuse de Joseph de Maistre a deconcerte de nombreux commentateurs. Certains ont ete genes par ce qu'ils appellent sesoutrances, d'autres ont juge son catholicisme proche de l'illuminisme, voire heterodoxe. De telles appreciations peuvent etre nuancees et attenuees, si l'on met en avant la proximite doctrinale de Maistre et des principaux theologiens de l'epoque. L'outrance de Maistre cesse alors d'etre percue comme telle, elle n'est que l'expression de la combativite des catholiques d'alors. L'heterodoxie supposee n'en est pas une, elle n'est qu'un molinisme affirme et consolide par un recours constant aux Peres et aux Docteurs de l'Eglise, mais aussi a Origene, dont l'oeuvre, en partie rehabilitee, est souvent sollicitee par les theologiens de la fin du XVIIIsiecle.
