Schuld, Reue und Tragik eines 'Gesalbten'

Wer die biblischen Erzahlungen uber Saul aufmerksam liest, wird einem Wechselbad der Gefuhle unterworfen. Eben noch hat man den neu erwahlten Konig bejubelt, doch schon wenige Tage spater aussert Samuel, der “grosse alte Prophet”, harte und unerbittliche Kritik an dem von ihm gesalbten Herrscher. Von da an gilt Saul als der verworfene Konig, der dem jungen, strahlenden David weichen muss.Diese kenntnisreiche Einfuhrung in die alttestamentliche Uberlieferung hilft dem Leser, den Saul zu entdecken, der nach Argwohn und Zorn schliesslich zur Reue bereit ist. Er anerkennt schliesslich Davids Grosse und akzeptiert tapfer sein eigenes Schicksal. Der neue Band der Reihe “Biblische Gestalten” ist eine interessante Lekture uber eine tragische und facettenreiche Gestalt der Bibel und liefert dem interessierten Laien wichtige Fakten und Hintergrunde fur das Verstandnis alttestamentlicher Schriften.
