Le 11 volume du RGTC rassemble toutes les references toponymiquwa des inscriptions decouvertes en Susiane et en Elam datant de la fin due IIIe millenaire jusqu’aux derniers textes achemenides, qu’elles soient redigees en sumero-accadien, en elamite ou en vieux-perse. Seuls les textes manifestement mesopotamiens rapportes a Suse some trophees, tels que le code d’Hammu-rabi ou la stele de Manistusu, ont ete ecartes.Dans l’introduction, l’auteur retrace l’evolution de l’Elam qui, a la fin du IIIe millenaire represente le Plateau Iranien, de l’est de la Susiane (region qui ne sera defitivement annexee a l’empire elamite qu’au moment de la chute de la troisieme dynastie d’Ur) jusqu’aux deserts du Kavir et du Lut, de la Mer Caspienne au Golf Persique et qui, vers le milieu du Ier millenaire, se reduit a la seule Susiane.Cet elargissement de l’ancienne notion d’un Elam de Susiane donne un vertain relief auy expeditions orientales des souverains mesopotamiens, en particulier a celles de Sargon et de ses successeurs qui atteignent le Kerman (Sismaski) et le Baluchtistan (Marhasi) ou a celles des rois neoassyriens qui se procurent le lapis-lazuli dans le Badakshan afghan (montagne Bikni).Cette nouvelle conception de la geographie elamite permet aussi bien d’expliquer la fameuse “Geographie de Sargon” dont l’empire s’etendait de la Mediterranee auf Pakistan, que de comprendre la puissane du souverain elamite a l’epoque de Zimri-Lim et d’Hammu-rabi ou la rapidite de l’expansion de l’empire achemenide.
