Die den hebraischen Texten der Konigszeit zugrunde liegende Vorstellung vom Himmel als “hintergrundiger Thronsphare” veranderte sich seit dem Babylonischen Exil hin zur Deutung des kosmischen Himmels als Ort gottlicher Prasenz. Diese Verlagerung spiegelt sich massgeblich in expliziten und impliziten Weltbildern der Schriften aus persischer Zeit wider. Erstmals entsteht in dieser Epoche mit Gen 1 ein Text, in dem die Weltschopfung und damit die Zusammenhange und Ausgestaltung kosmischer Raume in den Blick genommen wird. Dieser Text wird zum Fluchtpunkt kosmologischer Vorstellungen, die von ihm ausgehend von Autor*innen der folgenden Jahrhunderte kritisch fortgedeutet werden. Dies gilt in den Zeiten persischer Herrschaft vor allem fur die Stellung des Menschen in der gottlichen Schopfung sowie fur den Kontakt zwischen dem himmlischen Heiligtum und der menschlichen Lebenswelt. Diese Transformationen zeichnet Thomas Wagner kritisch nach.
