Ses mecanismes affectent en profondeur les formes de la sociabilite. L'imitatio affectuuma rang de principe. L'effort essentiel qui pose et dispose l'existence humaine compose les hommes entre eux. Les effets apparents de la vie sociale (le nous comme le je) en sont le resultat compose. Mais l'irresistibilite des rencontres naturelles ne repond pas toujours au hasard. Elles peuvent etre conduites a l'utilite pour soi, pour les autres, pour le bien general du public. L'imitation servile se corrige alors en une ethique de la similitude qui est liberte commune.
