The discourse concerning paintings, their impact and their effects has so far hardly played a role in practical theology. This study takes the first steps on this unfamiliar territory. It raises important questions regarding aesthetic reception, discusses these questions in the context of three essential fields of practical theology (preaching, liturgy, pastoral care) and contemplates them in consideration of the cultural source of the subject: the world of the visual arts. In this respect, this interdisciplinary work is a pioneering study. It proceeds inductively, analyzing representations of Adam and the Last Supper by Viennese painter Rudolf Hausner. With his detailed and scholarly interpretation, the author proves himself as one of the finest connoisseurs of the lifework of Rudolf Hausner. German text.
Der Diskurs uber Bilder, ihre Prasenz und ihre Wirkungen ist bislang weitgehend an der Praktischen Theologie vorbeigegangen. Die vorliegende Untersuchung wagt erste Schritte in dieses fremde Terrain. Sie hebt wichtige rezeptionsasthetische Fragen ans Licht, diskutiert sie im Rahmen dreier zentraler praktisch-theologischer Arbeitsfelder (Predigt, Liturgie, Seelsorge) und reflektiert sie dort, wo die Bildthematik ihren kulturellen Ausgangspunkt hat: im Resonanzraum der bildenden Kunst. Insofern kommt dieser interdisziplinaren Arbeit Pionierfunktion zu. Sie beschreitet dabei einen induktiven Weg. In der Auseinandersetzung mit den Adam- und Abendmahlsbildern des Wiener Malers Rudolf Hausner wird exemplarisch rekonstruiert, wie sich die visualisierte Reflexion des Kunstlers und die rezeptionsasthetische Reflexion des Betrachters uber die Arbeit des Bildes gegenseitig erschliessen. Zur Erhellung der religiosen Dimension und der bildtheoretischen Impulse werden Erkenntnisse aus Psychoanalyse, Pneumatologie und dem interdisziplinaren Bilddiskurs einbezogen. Mit dieser detail- und kenntnisreichen Interpretation tritt der Verfasser als einer der wohl besten Kenner des Lebenswerks von Rudolf Hausner in Erscheinung.
