L’original arabe du Grand Commentaire d’Averroes au De Anima d’Aristote

Depuis le Moyen Age, les philosophes devaient se contenter de la version latine du Grand Commentaire d’Averroes au De anima d’Aristote. Il y a une vingtaine d’annees, A. Ben Chehida avait montre que quelques gloses d’un manuscrit de Modene ecrit en caracteres hebraiques donnaient des fragments de l’original arabe. La reprise du dechiffrement de ces gloses par les signataires de ce volume a deja livre trois enseignements: 1. Le texte dont sont tirees les gloses n’est pas identique a ce qui fut traduit en latin, il s’agit d’une version anterieure du meme commentaire. 2. Ce commentaire plus ancien etait connu de certains philosophes juifs a Saragosse. 3. En Espagne chretienne, plusieurs studia dispensaient aux etudiants juifs un enseignement de philosophie averroiste, en hebreu mais aussi en arabe. L’edition du debut des gloses donnera au lecteur une premiere idee du travail en cours. La reproduction de quelques fragments le mettra en contact avec le manuscrit lui-meme.
