Les frises du Shah Name dans l’architecture iranienne sous les Ilkhan

Vingt et une frises de carreaux de ceramique du XIIIe et du XIVe siecle portant des vers du Shah-Name sont identifiees dans cette etude. Elles demontrent le role jusqu’ici insoupconne que le texte de Ferdowsi a tenu dans le decor palatial de l’Iran mongol. Le parallele systematique qu’il est possible d’etablir entre les modeles de carreaux retenus pour les vers du Shah-Name et ceux qui portent des versets koraniques souligne le parallelisme du role tenu dans la societe iranienne par le Koran, source du savoir metaphysique, et par le Shah-Name modele de l’histoire du monde et modele de conduite dans l’univers contingent.
