Les chauves d’Hathor

Temoins d’une devotion populaire apparue au Nouvel Empire, certaines statues egyptiennes representent des personnages qui se disent “chauve d’Hathor” ou de toute autre deesse assimilee a Hathor. A ce titre, ils affirment etre des intermediaires privilegies entre les femmes et la divinite, a condition que les devotes posent de l’onguent sur leur calvitie et placent pain et biere dans la main qu’ils tiennent ouverte devant leur bouche. Une etude du mot “chauve”, une collection d’exemples de ce mot dans l’onomastique et dans les textes funeraires, precedent le catalogue illustre de 18 statues de “Chauves d’Hathor” et de 8 statues portant des inscriptions comparables. Les textes autographies sont accompagnes de traductions.
