In 1943, at the age of twelve, Janina Hescheles was saved from the Janowski concentration camp in Lwow. Her memories, which she wrote down while they were still fresh, were published in Poland in 1946. Les Cahiers de Janina (Janina’s Notebooks) is an extraordinary account of the life and death of the Jews of Lwow. They are translated here into French together with previously unpublished manuscript fragments and an epilogue written in 2015 by the author.

Cet ouvrage est un exceptionnel temoignage sur la vie et la mort des Juifs de Lvov, et un document remarquable sur l'histoire de la publication des tout premiers temoignages de la catastrophe. Ce volume propose la traduction de l'edition de 1946, enrichie de fragments inedits du manuscrit de 1943, et d'un epilogue ecrit en 2015 par l'auteure.
