English summary: Technologies designated with the term “artificial intelligence” (AI) are already part of our everyday lives at work and at home, but also the subject of multi-faced public discourse. Against the background of different interests and ways of viewing this topic, it seems necessary to find positions on AI that are individually and socially justified, and also scientifically justifiable. At its conference in January 2021, the Protestant Research Academy attempted to contrast the positive and negative visions of technology presented and discussed in public with a realistic assessment of the actual possibilities and limits of AI. In doing so, it sought to articulate ethical and especially Christian points of view on what is desirable and necessary in shaping the human lifeworld with help from AI.
