In this respect, Jewish music is an exceptionally productive example of interaction between Central European, East European and Middle Eastern musical traditions. Der Dialog ist elementar fur den gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt in jeder Demokratie. Die judische Musik reprasentiert in dieser Hinsicht ein ausserst fruchtbares Zusammenwirken von mitteleuropaischen, osteuropaischen und nahostlichen musikalischen Traditionen und kann im Kulturleben eine einzigartige Rolle bei der Forderung der interreligiosen und interkulturellen Verstandigung spielen. Im Mittelpunkt des auf die gleichnamige Tagung im Juli 2010 in Potsdam zuruckgehenden Sammelbands steht judische Musik als Dialog der Kulturen mit ihren padagogischen, kunstlerischen und wissenschaftlichen Vermittlungsdimensionen. In knapp 20 Beitragen werden Traditionen und Grundlagen judischer Musik prasentiert sowie die unmessbaren Verluste in der Shoah und die besondere Verpflichtung des 21. Jahrhunderts zur Restaurierung der zerstorten kulturellen Werte reflektiert. Die Diskussion konkreter Beispiele der interkulturellen und interreligiosen Beziehungen auf musikalischem Gebiet zeigen die Bedeutung judischer Musik als Bindeglied im kulturellen Austausch zwischen Ost- und Mitteleuropa einerseits und zwischen Europa und dem Nahen Osten andererseits. Da die Grundlage fur ein friedvolles Miteinander unterschiedlicher Kulturen und Religionen im Kindesalter besonders effektiv sein kann, werden zudem Methoden und Konzepte des Unterrichts in judischer Musik im Rahmen interkulturellen Musikpadagogik beleuchtet und auf unmittelbare praktische Belange in verschiedenen Bildungs- und Fortbildungseinrichtungen bezogen.
