English summary: Judaism has never been a monolithic entity. For many years, its pluralism was primarily based on geographic and socio-cultural factors. Since the times of European Enlightenment, however, intra-Jewish diversity has also adopted a forceful ideological dynamic which has led to the formation of different and competing movements. In this volume, international scholars analyze different traditions within Judaism from different theological perspectives with the help of deep historical insight and sophisticated sociological methodology. This volume thus provides orientation in the debate about the significance of diversity and pluralism in Judaism and makes suggestions as to how religious communities in general can deal with pluralism.
