Johann Heinrich Ramberg gilt als einer der wichtigsten Buchillustratoren der deutschen Kunstgeschichte, dessen Schaffen pragend fur die Rezeptionsgeschichte deutscher Autoren um 1800 war. Einen Schwerpunkt seines bildkunstlerischen Schaffens bildet das eindrucksvolle Korpus von Zeichnungen zu Werken Christoph Martin Wielands, insbesondere zu dessen Versepos ‘Oberon’. Die Studie von Alexander Rosenbaum und Peter-Henning Haischer zu Rambergs Oberon-Zyklus von 1803 nimmt dessen Auseinandersetzung mit Wielands Dichtung in den Blick und entwickelt anhand der grossenteils noch unveroffentlichten Zeichnungen – exemplarisch fur den Supplementband zur Ossmannstedter Ausgabe der Werke Wielands – ein editorisches Konzept fur werkbezogene Illustrationskorpora.
