Focusing on the third part of the Hebrew biblical canon as well as on The Wisdom of Sirach and on the Book of Wisdom, this volume investigates the real lives of women in Persian and Hellenistic times and makes accessible female voices and experiences in the Psalms and Lamentations. The title examines the significance of the Weisheitsgestalt (epitomization of wisdom) and ancient oriental codes for an imagery of God. It also covers the stereotypical representation of female roles as well as the role model function of protagonists Ruth, Ester and Susanna. German text.
