English summary: The church and theology are at present confronted with God being forgotten on a massive scale. This is a challenge which is causing theologians to pay more attention to the doctrine of God’s ‘characteristics’, a doctrine which deals with the question of how human beings talk about God in concrete terms. Wolf Krotke presents a critical analysis of the concept of God’s characteristics and shows that these are actually clear qualities in which God reveals himself to humans. These characteristics make it possible to talk about God in concrete terms, to be close to him and at the same time to clarify the fundamental questions of human life. Sie bringen zugleich Klarheit in die Fundamentalfragen des menschlichen Lebens.Einige dieser Klarheiten ragen aus dem Reichtum der biblischen Rede von Gott heraus und drangen sich angesichts der Infragestellung des Gottesglaubens heute besonders auf. Das sind die Wahrheit, die Liebe, die Macht und die Ewigkeit Gottes. Sie konnen als Kriterien aller Rede von Gott und als orientierter Anfang fur die Artikulation Gottes in einer Situation der Gottesvergessenheit verstanden werden.
