Gedenken und aktuelle Relevanz der Reformation
Eine Deutung der Reformation und ihrer Wirkungsgeschichte im Anschluss an Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
by Jan Kingreen
What is celebrated at a Reformation Jubilee? What is remembered? The answer to these questions also determines the nature of the Reformation. Based on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel’s theory of history, this research asks for the hermeneutical prerequisites for a Wesensbestimmung. On this basis, the interpretation and function of Reformation in Hegel’s philosophy are analyzed. In addition, his conception of a principle of Protestantism is identified. While this interpretation is verified by sources from the Reformation, it also gives an impetus to a contemporary interpretation of the Reformation.
