Jahrhundert vor, die sich im Raum des heutigen Sachsen-Anhalts und uber ihn hinaus durch ihr Konnen, ihr Engagement und ihre gestalterische Kraft in besonderer Weise verdient gemacht haben, darunter Beruhmtheiten wie Zarin Katharina, Kaiserin Theophanu, Katharina von Bora oder die Dichterin Anna Louisa Karsch. In uber 120 biographisch-bibliographischen Portrats werden die Lebenswege und Leistungen von Kaiserinnen, Furstinnen, Schriftstellerinnen, Musikerinnen, Patrizierinnen, Abtissinnen, Reformatorinnen oder Mystikerinnen neuartig prasentiert. Aber auch bislang unbekannte Burgerinnen, Magde, Okonominnen oder Dichterinnen werden erstmals biographisch erfasst und als gesellschaftliche, soziale, unternehmerische, kunstlerische oder kulturelle Akteurinnen vorgestellt. Der Band verbindet den wissenschaftlichen Blick auf Beruhmtheiten mit der Erinnerung an das bedeutsame Wirken heute vergessener Frauen und der erstmaligen Vorstellung besonderer Frauenpersonlichkeiten.
