English summary: The establishment of a genuinely liberal and pluralistic society in the USA and of a Jewish state in the land of Israel mark the end of the exile. But they cannot guarantee our release from the politics of exile. release requires an understanding of what that politics was like and still is, and of why the exile never allowed for a life of free, self-conscious and responsible citizens. That kind of citizenship was not value for the biblical writers. Still, they have something to tell us about politics lost and politics found. German description: Die Etablierung einer liberal-pluralistischen Gesellschaft in den USA und die eines judischen Staates in Israel markieren das Ende der israelischen Exilpolitik. Aber beide garantieren noch nicht die Befreiung von der Politik des Exils. Eine solche Befreiung verlangt, dass wir verstehen, wie diese Politik aussah und warum das Exil niemals ein Leben freier, selbstbewusster, verantwortlicher Burger gestattete. Dieses Burgerideal stellt zwar keinen Wert fur die biblischen Autoren dar, dennoch haben sie uns einiges zur Exilpolitik zu sagen.
