English summary: Through its laws the Church provides itself with a binding set of regulations which govern its actions and make possible both collaboration and the resolution of conflicts. This book examines the foundations and principles of Protestant church law thus allowing for a well informed debate on the legitimacy of ecclesiastical order. People can be part of this ecclesiastical order, either as members of the church or as volunteers or employed professionals. This brings with it both specific requirements and a variety of possible courses of action. Such activities take place within the various different structures of the Church as a whole as well as within its associated organizations and thereby give the Church its form. At the same time they bring about the establishment of formal links between the Church’s individual entities. The goal is always to engage in collective action in a spiritually appropriate way.
