English summary: Is Europe a Christian continent? Or do we have to assume a multiplicity of religious and non-religious cultures? These questions were discussed in an interdisciplinary lecture series organized by the Faculty of Theology in the fall semester 2008/09 on the occasion of the 600th Anniversary of Leipzig University. The focus lay not exclusively on the social situation at the founding time of the university. Rather, jointly with experts from other disciplines theologians primarily discussed the current consequences for politics and theological scholarship resulting from this cultural plurality. Dr. Timotheus Arndt, Forschungsstelle Judentum, Leipzig Dr. Monika Eigmuller, Politikwissenschaft, Leipzig Dr. Friedmann Eissler, Evangelische Zentralstelle fur Weltanschauungsfragen, Berlin Prof. Dr. Klaus Fitschen, Kirchengeschichte, Leipzig Dr. Reinhard Hempelmann, Evangelische Zentralstelle fur Weltanschauungsfragen, Berlin Prof. Dr. Jurgen Miethke, Geschichtswissenschaft, Heidelberg Prof. Dr. Matthias Petzoldt, Systematische Theologie, Leipzig Prof. Dr. Gert Pickel, Religions- und Kirchensoziologie, Leipzig Dr. Matthias Pohlmann, Evangelische Zentralstelle fur Weltanschauungsfragen, Berlin Prof. Dr. Jens Schroter, Neutestamentliche Wissenschaft, Berlin Prof. Dr. Pirmin Stekeler-Weithofer, Philosophie, Leipzig Prof. Dr. Birgit Weyel, Praktische Theologie, Tubingen German description: Ist Europa ein christlicher Kontinent?
