Review - French La Court est le lieu, ou lon peult venir a grands biens : aussi est ce le lieu, ou lon est coustumier de se perdre . L'homme aime se precipiter vers ce qui le perdra. Antonio de Guevara (vers 1480-1545), historiographe et predicateur de l'empereur Charles Quint, courtisan mais aussi franciscain, s'adresse pourtant dans cet ouvrage a celui qui aurait eu la sagesse de quitter la Cour, lieu du pouvoir, pour se retirer loin des ambitions et des intrigues. Il y mele son experience personnelle a la sagesse des Anciens, avec une liberte qui, longtemps, lui a ete reprochee. Le texte, traduit pour la premiere fois en francais par Antoine Alaigre en 1542, obtint un enorme succes en France, ou il influenca et nourrit directement bien des textes ecrits au XVIsiecle.
