By (author) M. Vandersmissen
In the tragedies of Seneca, women have long been an object of study. Several aspects have been addressed, but today, a study of the female discourses of this theatrical corpus is missing. In this context, a research method should be put in place to answer, in particular, the following questions: Is it possible to identify a female or male way of expressing oneself on stage? If so, what would be the reasons for such discursive differentiation and what would be the consequences for the dramatic action? What is the influence of the interlocutor on these speeches? Do heroines speak like men, or is it the other way around? These are some of the avenues explored in this book. To address this subject at the intersection of discourse studies and women’s studies, the study uses logometry. The research is therefore also part of a profound methodological reflection, since new tools are being used to address these new issues.
