Die Synchronisierung der minoischen Alt- und Neupalastzeit mit der agyptischen Chronologie

Die absolute Datierung der minoischen Alt- und Neupalastzeit ist nach wie vor Gegenstand intensiver Diskussionen. Wahrend die auf archaologischen Belegen und der agyptischen historischen Chronologie basierende ‘traditionelle’ Chronologie fur den Ausbruch des Vulkans von Santorini am Ende der Phase Spatminoisch IA ein Datum um 1500 v. Chr. annahm, argumentierten Vertreter der ‘hohen’ Chronologie aufgrund von Radiokarbondaten fur eine Eruption in der zweiten Halfte des 17. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. Die vorliegende Arbeit diskutiert nun zum ersten Mal kritisch alle archaologischen Hinweise aus der Agais, aus Agypten sowie der Levante fur eine chronologische Synchronisierung der minoischen Alt- und Neupalastzeit mit der agyptischen historischen Chronologie. Ausserdem werden die Belege der naturwissenschaftlichen Datierungsmethoden, insbesondere der Radiokarbondatierung diskutiert und den archaologischen Evidenzen gegenubergestellt.
