Sie gehen bis ins Hochmittelalter zuruck und regelten die Rechte und Pflichten innerhalb eines Gebietes fur die zugehorigen Genossen-Geschlechter. Die Namensregister dieser Korporationen und Genossamen ermoglichen eine neue Herangehensweise in der linguistischen Deutungsarbeit: Die Autorin wirft einen frischen Blick auf die bisherige Typologie der Benennungsmotive, die bis anhin im voralpinen Untersuchungsgebiet von einer grossen Bedeutung von Ubernamen als Motive ausging.
