English summary: Eckart Otto treads new paths in Pentateuch and Deuteronomy research by showing that Deuteronomy is the cradle of the Pentateuch. He demonstrates that Deuteronomy is the center of the Hebrew bible and that it belongs in the center of every literary and religious history of Israel.
