This monograph provides a detailed commentary of Augustine’s De haeresibus. The analysis focuses on Augustine’s literary sources as well as on his heresiographical strategies. In addressing the question of Augustine’s specific knowledge concerning each of the 88 heresies described, this study examines the whole field of controversies Augustine was dealing with during his lifetime.
Vanessa Bayha hat Evangelische Theologie in Tübingen, Rom und Heidelberg studiert. Im Anschluss war sie als Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Kirchengeschichte mit Schwerpunkt Alte Kirche in Tübingen tätig. Sie ist Pfarrerin der Württembergischen Landeskirche und derzeit Studienleiterin am Melanchthon Zentrum Rom.
