The second volume of the Corpus des inscriptions de Delphes dedicated to the manumissions brings together the contracts made under priesthoods X to XXXV (nos 723 to 1273), that cover a period from the last quarter of the 2nd century BCE to the end of the 1st century CE. During this period, the chronological framework loosens somewhat and the very succession of priesthoods is no longer always assured, despite some milestone institutional changes and despite the progress in research that has led to substantial headway being made, in particular in the chronology of the 1st century CE. While the contracts still follow the same schema, some of the constitutive parts of the form change, in particular with regard to the designation of the guarantor or the mode of archiving and posting from the end of the 1st century BCE; the first apostils also date from the same period; finally, new provisions start to emerge progressively, in particular in the paramona clause, that includes growing demands by the masters. An appendix brings together all of the texts that are too damaged to be used (nos 1274 to 1341), but that nevertheless should be taken into account in any corpus.
