In its multifaceted evolution, the Venetian Lagoon represents a privileged field of research and experimentation, useful for investigating documentary, material, and immaterial traces of its past and its interconnections with the Adriatic space. The latter, understood not only in its maritime dimension but also in its coastal and terrestrial interface, has fostered the transit of people and objects, as well as heroes and saints, alongside written or orally transmitted fabulae that have enriched Adriatic and particularly Venetian history. Through multidisciplinary contributions, the volume accounts for the themes presented between 2022 and 2024 in the halls of the Biblioteca Marciana and the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice, alongside other studies and research concerning the lagoon, which has always been an extraordinary crucible of knowledge and perspectives bridging past, present, and future.

MADDALENA BASSANI graduated with distinction in Classical Literature with archaeology specialization at Padua University. She is the author of approximately seventy publications and is a member of the editorial boards for Antenor Quaderni, Hesperìa. Studi sulla Grecità d’Occidente and Venetia/Venezia. Quaderni adriatici di storia e archeologia lagunare. In 2014 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification to function as Associate Professor.
