Le premier projet d’un corpus des timbres ceramiques a ete concu par Mme Victoria Eftimie-Andronescu en 1951. Il devait comprendre toutes les estampilles sur amphores, tuiles, jarres, etc., trouvees aussi bien dans les colonies helleniques de la Dobroudja que sur les autres sites, surtout getodaces, du territoire roumain. Selon l’idee de Mme Victoria Eftimie-Andronescu, ce corpus devait etre organise par centres de production. Cette entreprise a ete menee jusqu’en 1975, sans pourtant toucher a sa fin. Mme Victoria Eftimie-Andronescu a presente un compte rendu preliminaire sur les trouvailles d’Histria dans une communication faite a l’Institut d’Archeologie de Bucarest en 1954. Mais c’est Vasile Canarache qui a publie en 1957 le premier corpus des decouvertes faites a Histria, Importul amforelor stampilate la Istria. C’etait en quelque sorte un ouvrage de pionnier, qui signalait a l’epoque l’importance des corpus regroupant les trouvailles d’un meme site. La direction du chantier d’Histria a continue sur cette voie et a engage le projet d’un nouveau corpus, redige au niveau et selon les exigences de la recherche contemporaine. Le materiel a beaucoup augmente, gryce aux amples travaux entrepris depuis 1957 a Histria. Le lot des timbres amphoriques a presque triple. Une nouvelle generation de chercheurs a pris la releve, et un groupe de jeunes, a Bucarest, Constantza et Tulcea, a pousse les investigations sur ces documents a l’avant-garde de la science contemporaine. Le projet du nouveau corpus histrien a ete donc propose a deux de ces chercheurs, Alexandru Avram, qui est aussi membre de l’equipe du chantier, et Niculae Conovici. Le VIIIe volume de la serie Histria est destine a ce corpus
