Wegbereitung der Versohnung
Offentliche Theologie im Kontext gesellschaftlicher Versohnungsprozesse
by Maximilian Schell
In the case of Transitional Societies, theology and the church face enormous challenges in the process of overcoming violence and achieving sustainable peace. The paradigm of reconciliation as a central perspective of public theology can offer orientation for social institutions as well as the churches. The churches are faced with the task of taking into account not only the interpersonal but also the vertical dimension of reconciliation, which asks about God as an actor in the reconciliation process, and to bring this into the public discourse. Using the example of Rwanda, the study proposes to understand social reconciliation measures as a preparation of the way, which waits in hope for the transformative power of the Last and responds to it in action.
