This study is dealing with the aims and challenges of the women’s board within the Nordkirche, the Lutheran Church of northern Germany. Where are its ressources, which obstacles is it currently facing? In order to answer these questions, fourteen focused interviews with experts in the field were conducted and analysed. In consideration of insights from gender research and social studies the results are classified from a practical-theological viewpoint. It shows that gender separate spaces are still an important resource for women within the church. At the same time the field has to develop new concepts that depict gender justice in order to integrate the erosion of a binary gender code.
