Like a golden showcase wall, the high altar of the cathedral presented sculptures and reliquaries of the very greatest value that astonish the beholder even today. The treasures cover a range of almost a thousand years, up to the twentieth century. The focus is, however, on reliquaries from the Middle Ages, a treasure of sculptures and vessels unequaled anywhere in the world.
