Die Beitragenden untersuchen zentrale Fragen der Johannesexegese anhand detaillierter Fallstudien und breiterer theologischer Uberlegungen. Mehrere Beitrage konzentrieren sich auf spezifische Semeia-Erzahlungen – einschliesslich der Erzahlung aus Johannes 21 – und analysieren die literarische und theologische Funktion des Begriffs “Semeia”. Sie befassen sich mit ubergreifenden Fragen wie dem Zusammenspiel von Zeichen und Glaube bzw. Unglaube, der Beziehung zwischen Zeichen und Werken und der Rolle der Semeia innerhalb der narrativen Struktur und des theologischen Rahmens des Evangeliums. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt den Auslegungspraktiken, insbesondere der Schriftexegese, wie sie im johanneischen Corpus angewendet werden. Ein abschliessender Beitrag analysiert die Rezeption des Kana-Wunders bei Johannes Chrysostomos und bietet damit einen patristischen Ausblick auf die Wirkungsgeschichte der Semeia-Thematik.
