This essay follows the historical development of the construction technique known as a tufelli, from its first appearance at the end of the 12th century, until its consumption at the end of the second half of the 15th century, focusing on an area around the city of Rome which appeared to be linked by political, administrative and economic ties. The analysis of the monuments, fully documented with original drawings and photographs, have allowed the author to identify local influences in the inspiration and employ of this technique, and to advance new suggestions for its conservation and restoration. Italian description: Il saggio ripercorre lo svolgimento storico della tecnica costruttiva ‘a tufelli’ dalle sue prime apparizioni, nel tardo XII secolo, fino al suo esaurimento verso la meta del XV, in un’area attestata intorno alla citta di Roma, cui risulta legata da vincoli di natura politico-amministrativa ed economica. L’analisi dei monumenti, ampiamente documentata da fotografie e disegni originali, ha permesso all’autrice di riconoscere influssi locali nell’ispirazione e nell’impiego di questa tecnica e di avanzare nuove proposte ai fini della loro conservazione e del restauro.
