In the articles of the present collection, Bernd Mahr develops a general theory of models which aims to explain the use of models in technology, science, and art. Mahr’s basic idea is that something, conceived in a certain way, is judged to be a model “of something for something.” Hence his general theory of models is based on a theory of conception, a context theory, and a theory of judgement.
Bernd Mahr († 2015) leitete die Arbeitsgruppe „Formale Modelle, Logik und Programmierung (FLP)“ im Institut für Telekommunikationssysteme der Technischen Universität Berlin.
Klaus Robering ist Professor für Informationswissenschaft an der University of Southern Denmark, Kolding.
