English summary: The present volume examines the ties between Paul and the Platonic tradition through the notion of the katechon. Rather than accepting the idea that the force holding back evil and destruction was Rome and political power, the authors argues for a more thorough understanding of the dialogue between Paul and Plato, and ultimately between theology and philosophy. Quelle est cette force d’origine humaine qui est en condition de retenir le mal et sauvegarder la societe politique, au moins pour un certain temps? Augustin avoue sa perplexite tout en adherant a l’acception commune qui identifie le katechon a Rome et au pouvoir politique, identification aussi bien erronee que dangereuse. Si le mystere reste intact a nos jours, la raison en est que l’opinion commune des theologiens et des philosophes sur la question separe radicalement la tradition logicophilosophique de la tradition theologico-religieuse, eloignant donc Paul de la philosophie. Or ce n’est qu’en rapprochant Paul de Platon et de la tradition platonicienne que la logique katechontique, c’est-a-dire la logique de l’evitement du plus grand mal, prend sens. De la logique katechontique a la logique constituante du corps politique, les lecons platoniciennes transparaissent derriere les epitres pauliniennes. Le dialogue entre Paul et Platon est parmi les plus riches de la tradition occidentale. Ce serait une enorme perte que de nous interdire d’y voir plus clair sous pretexte que l’on ne doit pas melanger les registres. Leo Strauss disait que pour comprendre la modernite occidentale, il faut etre soit un philosophe ouvert a la theologie, soit un theologien uvert a la philosophie. Quoi qu’il en soit, a travers cette enquete, je ne cherche qu’a devenir meilleur dialecticien.
