Die urslavischen Bildungen des volja-Typs unterscheiden sich von allen ubrigen Feminina mit Nom. Sg. auf *-ja durch ihr ungewohnliches prosodisches Verhalten: Ihre Fortsetzungen in den Einzelsprachen deuten zumeist auf etymologisch kolumnale Akzentuierung der Wurzelsilbe mit Neoakut, die sich so bei keinem anderen Wortbildungstyp findet. Als ein weiteres Charakteristikum des volja-Typs wird in der Forschung immer wieder auch der Reflex auslautender Lange des Nom. und Akk. Sg. im Lechischen angefuhrt, der dann gleichsam als Evidenz fur die Rekonstruktion von urslav. *-ja usw. gedeutet wird. Um den volja-Typ einer schlussigen sprachhistorischen Erklarung zuzufuhren, werden in dieser Arbeit deshalb vor allem zwei Fragestellungen verfolgt, erstens wie die neoakutierte Intonation der Wurzelsilbe zu erklaren ist und zweitens welches stammbildende Suffix als ursprunglich anzunehmen ist; letztere erhellt schliesslich auch den etymologischen Anschluss des slavischen volja-Typs an das Urindogermanische.
