The focus of all logistics activities is on accelerating material flows while simultaneously reducing costs and relying on constantly improving information relationships to respond more quickly and flexibly to customer needs. Logistics solutions have become indispensable, particularly in industry, but also in other economic sectors such as trade, transport, and healthcare. The core idea of logistics is to create a customer-oriented and cost-minimal physical flow. With the continued refinement of goods and information flows, the globalization of economic relations, and the progressive scientific penetration of labor-sharing processes, methods, instruments, and intelligent practical solutions for planning and controlling logistics processes have emerged in the past. Many of these findings are now primarily expressed in English, French, Japanese, and German, and increasingly, corresponding abbreviations are also used. This book is intended to familiarize the reader with abbreviations, terms, contents, and definitions related to corporate logistics and related areas. Completeness will never be achieved, as the constant change and development of logistics solutions also constantly give rise to new definitions/contents and abbreviations. The “logistics abbreviations” are listed in alphabetical order. The abbreviations are then explained according to their content, and definitions are provided in some cases. This book is both a resource for practitioners and particularly suitable for students at universities, technical colleges, and academies.
