La premiere conference du jeudi a ete consacree a une etude approfondie, commencee a la fin de l’annee precedente (1945-1946), des moyens semiologiques appartenant a la conjugaison francaise. Anterieurement, l’etude avait eu pour objet le systeme psychique du verbe francais. On a montre cette annee qu’en face de ce systeme psychique, il s’est constitue empiriquement un systeme semiologique capable d’en signifier dans l’immediat tous les postes et tous les mecanismes. Il a ete explique, et prouve, que le systeme psychique obeit, pour ce qui est de sa construction, a une loi qui est celle de la plus grande coherence, tandis que le systeme semiologique releve, lui, d’une loi bien plus souple et d’une autre nature : celle de la suffisante expression du psychisme institue. Tout lui convient qui satisfait a cette derniere condition.
