A l’heure ou l’Eglise, tant dans la personne de Jean-Paul II que dans celle de son successeur, Beno1t XVI, insiste sur la necessite de retrouver un lien vivant entre raison et foi, clone entre science, philosophie et theologie; et a !’heure Oll le dialogue interreligieux appelle a s’interroger sur les possibilites d’une philosophie juive, d’une philosophie islamique, d’une philosophie bouddhiste, il est urgent de renour avec la question de la philosophie chretienne. L’histoire du concept, les debats qu’il a suscites, la tentation de la releguer dans la scolastique, la necessite d’en repenser les conditions de possibilite dans la culture contemporaine: telles sont les questions qu’aborde cet ouvrage. Les textes ici traduits sont tires des trois volumes de la Christliche Philosophie parue en Autriche il y a quelques annees. Parmi les nombreux auteurs engages dans l’aventure, on a retenu pour l’essentiel les travaux de Heinrich Schmidinger, actuellement recteur de l’Universite de Salzburg. On doit a Xavier Tillette s.j. une substantielle preface qui d’emblee oriente le lecteur vers l’ essentiel.
