Tome II
Mythes dynastiques et panégyriques
By (author) E. Francis
This book is an in-depth study of the royal Pallava ideology (South India, 4th-9th c. CE). These Hindu kings left many diverse sources that highlight their conceptions of the world, society and, in particular, the self-representation of kingship. This second volume provides an analysis of royal genealogies and dynastic myths of the Pallavas from epigraphical sources as well as an investigation of the content and development of the epigraphical and iconographic panegyric of the Pallavas in three successive periods of the dynasty: the Era of Dana ( 300-550), the Era of Monuments (ca 550-730) and the Era of Decline (ca 730-900).
English summary: This book is an in-depth study of the royal Pallava ideology (South India, 4-9th c.
