Sous le concept d'” avant-garde radicale “, sont regroupes les artistes majeurs du XXe siecle qui ont ete conduits a redefinir la creation artistique en revenant a ses racines: la recherche d’un beau qui soit indice d’une verite accessible a la personne. Le discours et le regard sur l’art sont desormais appeles a considerer cette intention nouvelle qui empiete sur la question de l’ethique et se veut transformatrice du monde.La naissance de cette reflexion inedite, sa reception et ses enjeux sont analyses dans cet ouvrage ou se rencontrent entre autres Kandinsky, Mondrian, Malevitch, mais aussi Duchamp, Schwitters, Ball, Tzara, Richter, Rodtchenko, Eisenstein, Man Ray, Arp ou van Doesburg dont la pensee et l’oeuvre temoignent d’un itineraire de verite.
