English summary: This text analyzes the motivations behind tournaments, jousts, raids, vendettas, feuds, and other medieval acts of conflict and violence. Spanning the period between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, this text uses a variety of extant sources to investigate the emotional responses of those who recorded the violence of this period and how this knowledge effects modern interpretations. O, quasi all’opposto, essi possono esser causati dalla difesa di diritti acquisiti o addirittura da una domanda di rinnovamento e giustizia sociale da parte degli strati piu ampi e poveri della popolazione? Il lettore scoprira che indagare il contesto territoriale di Roma e del suo distretto ? questo il teatro degli eventi in esame ? nel periodo compreso tra XIII e XV secolo, attraverso l’apporto documentario di diari, cronache e resoconti stilati piu o meno quotidianamente da testimoni contemporanei, significa compiere anzitutto un’investigazione sugli universi emotivi dei singoli cronisti nei confronti della violenza. Solo cosi sara possibile capire, e scoprire, se e fino a che punto tali emozioni abbiano influenzato la rappresentazione degli eventi riportati sulla carta e la nostra possibilita di interpretarli.
