Der vorliegende Band 16 der Reihe Hydronymia Europaea bildet den Abschluss der Untersuchungen der Gewassernamen im oberen Weichselgebiet und fasst damit die in den Faszikeln 9, 12, 13 und 15 behandelten Gebiete zu einer geographisch zusammenhangenden Region zusammen. Das bedeutet jedoch uberhaupt nicht, dass dieser Einheit auch eine sprachliche und sprachhistorische entsprechen musse. Gemessen an dem hohen Alter mancher Gewassernamen sind einige typisch kleinpolnische Gemeinsamkeiten doch eine recht spate Erscheinung.
