The history of the Burgundian Low Countries is dominated by powerful conflicts, centered around the Dukes of Burgundy from the House of Valois. Their opponents were the cities of Flanders, competing French princes, their own relatives in Bavaria, as well as individual noble families in the Dutch principalities. From the acquisition of their Dutch heritage by Philip the Bold in 1384 to the Treaty of Cambrai in 1529, this volume details the colorful history of this complex period. German text.
