We make progress toward an understanding of collective action and collective intentionality by differentiating collective dispositions from collective judgments. This distinction allows us to reconstruct how collectives are enabled to reflect on (metacognition) as well as shape themselves. By synthesizing established approaches to collective agency, it is thus possible to propose a theory of different forms of collective agency.
