The so-called “Thanksgiving Scroll” means the ancient scroll and relevant fragments found from 1947 to 1948 that contained previously unknown hymns of praise, and which was one of the first scrolls discovered in the vicinity of Qumran. The scroll takes its name from the introductory lines “I thank thee, Lord.” The texts are similar to the biblical psalms, and is quite approachable to the modern reader in terms of content. This German-Hebrew study edition is available to read, enjoy, and (naturally) to work with in a scholarly fashion. This volume offers a close transitional of the texts and an extensive introduction, review of the literature and endnotes with annotations to parallel points in other Qumran texts, the Old Testament as well as notes on the translation.
