In 372 catalogue numbers, the volume presents inscriptions from the Middle Weser region from the 13th century to 1650. The most important inscription site in the district of Nienburg is the former Cistercian monastery of Loccum with around 100 inscriptions. Nienburg, the former seat of the counts of Hoya, also has a rich collection of inscriptions. Further inscriptions, which are distributed among the monasteries and convents in Schinna, Nendorf and Bucken as well as the villages of the district, provide insights into the self-representation of citizens, farmers and the lower nobility.
