English summary: Diaconal Partnerships in a Divided Germany. Contemporary Witness Reports and Reflexions]The intensive partnership relations between facilities and associations of the Christian Social Service in East and West Germany constituted an important link between the Protestant Churches in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the GDR. Twenty years after the fall of the Wall, the Social Service Agency of the Evangelical Church in Germany (Diakonisches Werk der EKD) recalled, within the scope of a meeting of contemporary witnesses, the connecting role of diaconia in a divided Germany. The contributions in this book by leading staff members of diaconal institutions illustrate how sponsorships, at first unilateral and materially motivated, transformed into partnerships which were mutually enriching, both professionally and personally. The former protagonists give a vivid description of the depth of their professional and personal relations and of the practical problems of cross-border work. At the same time, they reflect on their previous activities in a critical retrospective.
